Mark Knopfler and Peter Frampton / James Bond theme songs

Mark Knopfler and Peter Frampton are among the guests on a new album by Brian Bennett, the longtime drummer with British chart champions the Shadows.

Knopfler plays on "All The Time In The World" (1969), Barry's composition with lyricist Hal David that became a hit for Louis Armstrong, from the soundtrack of the James Bond film "On Her Majesty's Secret Service". Frampton appears on a new version of another Bond theme, "Thunderball," (1965) and Marvin on "The Appointment".

Knopfler, a lifelong Shadows fan, says that "All The Time In The World" was one of Barry's personal favourites. It was such a thrill to be asked to contribute to this version by Brian, one of my all-time favourite great drummers and a fine composer and arranger himself.

Listen to Peter Frampton on "Thunderball" (track 1) and Mark Knopfler on "All The Time In The World" (track 9) on the Brian Bennett Orchestra's Shadowing John Barry on Spotify.

As the first of its kind, the non-commercial charity James Bond Fan-documentary “A
Bond For Life“ portrays the devoted fan-love of director Benjamin Lind that began
almost exactly twenty years ago. When he saw his first Bond film “GoldenEye“ in
cinema in 1996, it was love at first sight. From then on, the films accompanied him
through difficult and challenging years. When the sudden cancer death of his mother
turned his world upside down in 1997, it was the fictional novel- and screen hero
James Bond who gave him stability and a fantasy world to escape to. Being
increasingly confronted with the serious side of life, Lind saw himself tasked with the
challenge of balancing fantasy world and reality. With this combination, “A Bond For
Life“ is equally autobiography as well as journey through the exciting James Bond
fandom.

“A Bond For Life“ is dedicated to Barbara Broccoli & Michael G. Wilson, the
producers of the James Bond films. Since 1995, they both control the fate of the
family business EON Productions Ltd. in London as well as that of the James Bond
franchise, which has become the longest-running film series in the history of cinema
with a total of 24 films.

UNICEF
Aside from the cinematic idea, another heartfelt wish became the focus for director
Benjamin Lind: the final film should benefit a charitable cause. Together with
UNICEF, the internationally operating United Nations Children's Fund whose line of ambassadors also include former James Bond actor Sir Roger Moore, Lind was now
able to realize this wish. “We, who live in rich economic nations and don ́t have to
give much thought to where our next meal is coming from, have so much and give so
little”, says Lind. “Millions of children die every year as a result of malnutrition. The
co-operation with UNICEF enables me to do my bit with my film project and support
vital aid operations.“

James Bond - sarjakuva VARGR

James Bond suorittaa salaista tehtävää Helsingissä uudessa Bond-tarinassa.

Kyseessä on marraskuussa 2015 a
lkanut uusi Bond-sarjakuva James Bond 007: VARGR. Se on ensimmäinen James Bondista tehty sarjakuva vuoden 1996 jälkeen.

Yhdysvaltalaisen sarjakuvan alussa James Bond jahtaa miestä rakennustyömaalle lumisessa Helsingissä. He tappelevat käyttäen aseinaan lapioita. Tappelu on hyvin verinen. Sen lopuksi käy ilmi, että mies oli murhannut agentti 008:n ja Bond on kostomatkalla. Miehelle käy kovin huonosti.

Sarjakuvan on käsikirjoittanut palkittu sarjakuvantekijä Warren Ellis. Ellis on käynyt Suomessa ainakin kerran. Hän oli Helsingin Sarjakuvafestivaalien kunniavieras syksyllä 2006.

Ellis kuvailee sarjakuvan tapahtumapaikkaa io9-verkkosivun haastattelussa:

“Se tapahtuu yhdessä niistä loputtoman tuntuisilta rakennustyömailta, jotka ympäröivät Helsinkiä ja joissa rakennetaan beigen värisiä brutalistisia rakennuksia. Jos olisin halunnut kirjoittaa vitsin, olisin laittanut heidät juoksemaan rautatiekiskojen toisella puolella olleen death metal -karaokebaarin läpi.”
